7 things women need to know about sexual health

There are many problems that women suffer from, but they are too embarrassed to talk about it. Burning, itching and discharge ‘down below’ can leave one in pain- but most of the time they are ashamed to seek help.

A healthy vagina is one that is symptom-free and odourless. Women should go for regular medical check ups to ensure that their lower-bottom region is in good condition whether you are sexually active or not, reports Daily Mail.

Here are few steps women should follow to protect themselves from infection and to make sure that their under carriages are well ventilated.

Use your towel in public places:
When ever using public toilets, spas, Jacuzzi, saunas and swimming baths always use your own towel. This helps to avoid picking up thrush or bacterial vaginas which is easily transmitted.

Wash your vagina:
When out for long hours always remember to wash your vagina with normal water. Give it time to dry and ventilation.

It’s not always important to use harsh antibacterial soaps because at times it also washes away important good bacteria as well as bad. At times, it can also make unpleasant smells worse.

Avoid synthetic underwear:
It is always recommended to wear cotton underwear as it keeps the area dry, gives good ventilated and you are less exposed to infection and allergy.

Avoid tight clothes:
When working for long hours avoid wearing tight pants as it reduces ventilation.

Regular medical advice:
No matter whether you are sexually active or not, one should always go for medical checkups. Even if you are a celibate visit your gynecologist and know if your vagina is healthy or not.

If sexual active and have developed discharge seek advice to see if you are not carrying an STD. If you find that you are infected, then take treatment immediately.
